Larry Meyers

Larry MeyersIf you live in the Chicagoland area, you probably know Larry, as he and his family have been providing insurance services to the region since the 1930s. Being born into a family that owned and operated a local insurance company, Larry decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and began his career in insurance upon graduating from high school. Throughout the years, his passion for the industry and helping people protect their most valuable assets grew along with his career. In 1975, he became president of the family business, Hammond Insurance, which eventually became HIA Insurance as the company’s presence expanded across the entire region. In 2014 when HIA Insurance merged with Employer Benefit Systems to form the Meyers Glaros Group, Larry and his team had grown the company to be one of the largest providers of personal and business insurance services in the Chicagoland area. In his current role as Managing Partner at Meyers Glaros Group, Larry continues to provide a full range of insurance services to the people and leading businesses of Northwest Indiana and beyond. Larry has always taken an active role in the insurance industry. He is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA), as well as the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI), for which he served as president in 2004. As a sign of his commitment to the industry, Larry was honored to have been awarded the Harry P. Cooper, Jr. Public Image Award by the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI) in 1992. Larry has also shown the same dedication to our community as he has to the industry. He is the current chairman of the board of trustees for Calumet College of St. Joseph, where he has been an active member for more than 20 years. In addition, Larry has served on the board of directors for both the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce and Olympia Fields Country Club. He was also president of Woodmar Country Club in 1993, Hammond Education Foundation in 1993 and Hammond Rotary 1991. He and his family remain active and dedicated to many area charitable organizations as well. Larry and his wife Jill live in St. John. They have two sons, one of whom (Jeff Meyers) has continued the family tradition in the insurance industry as the third generation (see Jeff’s bio below). The little spare time Larry has is spent golfing and playing racquetball.
